Then the quick dive can be his side special move and work as an attack, a way to get around or a method of recovering. Instead he should have the bionic arm punch to be more true to MGSV. This means that it wouldn’t make sense for Venom to have the same dash attack as Snake. It replaced the roll move which Snake actually uses for his dash attack. The quick dive move especially would be an odd thing to leave out. Where’s the crouch walking, rolling while crawling, the quick dive move or the ability to carry enemies over your shoulder in a similar fashion to one of Donkey Kong’s moves? These mechanics are very important in MGSV and it wouldn’t be right to exclude them. ![]() Snake in Smash takes gameplay mechanics from the first three MGS games and technically MGS4 if you count his up smash. Smash actually took some moves from the cutscenes in Twin Snakes and put them into Snake’s moveset. A great example for Snake is the cutscenes in Twin Snakes which do a great job showing his abilities. All three of Big Boss’s clones have enhanced physical abilities which explains why they can be seen doing crazy stuff in the different games. He’s not a genetically enhanced of Big Boss like Snake is after all. Venom Snake isn’t capable of these kinds of moves including Snake’s down tilt which isn’t possible to perform in MGSV like you said. Snake in Smash has moves that show off his incredible flexibility. Imagine how cool dynamic CQC would be in Smash. The CQC in MGS3 in comparison is less powerful and slower. It’s a slightly more aggressive version of Big Boss’s CQC from Ground Zeroes but it’s still incredibly fast paced. He has his own CQC style in MGSV that’s called dynamic CQC. It wouldn’t make any sense for Venom to use a type of CQC style that he never used. Although some moves are similar they still are very different. MGSV doesn’t use the same moves as before. His punch and kick combo comes from MGS2.ĬQC has changed a lot since MGS3. The CQC that Snake uses in Smash is based off of MGS3 and only the grabs and throws come from it. Both handguns and rifles have non lethal counterparts which means they can be brought over to Smash no problem. The lightest weapons are the the handguns and for most players they may use a handgun as their primary weapon or even a rifle instead. The heaviest weapons in MGSV are things like rocket launchers and only one can be taken with you on a mission. If Venom had Snake’s moveset it wouldn’t follow the logic of MGSV’s gameplay and would therefore be an impossible scenario to create in MGSV itself. The inventory limit in MGSV only lets you carry a few weapons and can affect your movement speed drastically depending on what you bring with you. Starting with MGS3 an inventory limit was added and your movement speed was affected by how heavy your items and weapons were. This is why Snake can carry so many heavy weapons with him in Smash. In all of Snake’s games besides MGS4 you never run out of space for weapons and your movement speed isn’t affected. Also Snake has plenty of space for lethal weapons that he can use to mow down enemies when he’s been spotted and the only thing that the kills do in his games is affect your rank at the end of the game/act. Snake’s moveset works for his character and for his games because his character is shown to have killed lots of soldiers, he’s very good wt killing people like he says. If Venom were to join Smash he would obviously want to recruit some of the fighters, not blow them up. To best represent the gameplay of MGSV Venom should use non lethal weapons like the tranquilizer gun or a non lethal trap like the inflatable decoy which comes in many variations. If Venom had Snake’s moveset he might as well be wearing the battle dresss. Snake’s moveset in Smash only uses explosive weapons which most players won’t use in Portable Ops, Peace Walker or MGSV unless they plan on doing a boss battle mission. In Peace Walker and MGSV the soldier recruitment system is further expanded upon and is now even more important to the gameplay. In Portable Ops you need to recruit soldiers so killing them is only going to slow down progression. In MGS3 the “fight” with The Sorrow would drag depending on how many people you killed up until that point. In MGS3, Portable Ops, Peace Walker and MGSV the game punishes you for killing people instead of taking them out non lethally. Here I’ve written a long and detailed explanation on why I think Venom wouldn’t be an echo if he ever becomes playable. But I’ve analyzed the gameplay and animations of MGSV and can conclude that an echo wouldn’t do justice to the gameplay or animations of MGSV. DonkeykongIsYTPooping 12w toledo Most people say that Venom should be an echo.
